Clean power from the sun: From the long-term point of view, photovoltaics are the best response to the greenhouse effect, which is now one of the greatest threats faced by the earth. The climate warming of caused by the release of carbon dioxide (CO2), from burning gas, oil and coal, among other things, is becoming more pronounced. In contrast, energy from the sun is free of CO2 and has an estimated remaining life of more than four billion years. Solar energy is virtually inexhaustible.
The German Renewable Energy Law (EEG) stipulates that operators of photovoltaic installations may supply power in specified reimbursable batches to the power grid. The exact amount of the reimbursement depends on the year of the installation as well as on its type and size. In the meantime, many countries in Europe and Asia, as well as federal states in the U.S. have introduced similar regulations for the promotion of renewable energy and are thus encouraging the installation of PV systems. Protection of the environment is also worthwhile from a financial perspective.
